KWIK FIT INSURANCE PLANTS 300 TREES IN ECO DRIVE

Lanarkshire intermediary Kwik Fit Insurance has planted almost 300 trees as part of its commitment to greener transport during Greener Travel Week this week (Aug 24 – 28).

During the Scottish Government initiative, staff at Kwik Fit Insurance were encouraged to leave their car at home for one day in the week and car share with fellow workers who live in the same area.

Kwik Fit Insurance has also calculated and offset its carbon emissions for the week and as a result has planted 294 trees in Overkirkhope in the Ettrick Valley, in the Scottish Borders.

In addition, staff who participate in the car sharing initiative today (Thursday) will be entered into a prize draw to win a car parking space at the front of the building for a month - so they and their car-sharing colleagues can avoid walking from the end of the car park to the office in the rain.

The winner will also receive free food for a month at the staff Bistro restaurant, which serves freshly cooked food including healthy options.

Brendan Devine, Group Managing Director of Kwik Fit Financial Services, said: “We’re conscious that, as an insurance company which covers a lot of cars, we have a responsibility to ensure that we help raise awareness of environmental issues.

“There has been a great response to the Greener Travel Week and a number of people, having seen how easy it is to car share, plan to keep it going to both save money and also reduce their impact on the environment.

“Our full-time environmental manager, Colin Kerr, is delighted with how the week has gone and is already planning further ways in which we can positively impact on our environment.”

KWIK FIT INSURANCE RISES UP THE TOP 50 BROKERS LIST

Kwik Fit Insurance has been named as one of the top performers of the year in the Top 50 Brokers list for 2009.

The Uddingston-based intermediary has risen two places to 15th in the overall Top 50 Brokers list published by Insurance Times but was also identified as a ‘top performer’ in the motor insurance sector by consultants IMAS who compiled the list.

Amid increasingly-fierce competition in the personal lines insurance sector, KFI was one of the businesses recognised for having not only survived but also grown during an unprecedented period of turmoil in the financial markets. Kwit Fit Insurance managed to grow income in 2008 by nearly 20% and increased its EBITDA margin (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) substantially to 25%.

Brendan Devine, Group Managing Director of Kwik Fit Financial Services said: “Featuring highly in the Top 50 brokers list at a time like this is particularly satisfying. We’re delighted to be recognised as having improved our position when the market has become a much tougher place in which to operate.

“We’re focused on growing the business across the personal lines spectrum and are working hard to ensure that we maintain our competitiveness and continue to offer a first-rate service to all of our customers.”

Oliver Laughton Scott, managing principal at IMAS Corporate Advisers who compiled the list said: “Many of the Top 50 brokers have grown profitability significantly in the year, but margins can be only enhanced so far. It is the combination of growth both in turnover and profitability that is crucial to build shareholder value. In growing its profitability faster than revenue, Kwit Fit Insurance has critically pushed margins ahead, yet maintained a growth culture.”

Heading up the Top 50 Brokers list was was Aon with  Marsh in second place and Willis returning in third.

RECORD BREAKING SALES AT KWIK FIT INSURANCE

Kwik Fit Insurance (KFI)  reported record breaking sales this week which saw the leading insurance intermediary boast its strongest figures for a single day of trading since the company was established in 1995.

The Lanarkshire-based firm’s landmark day saw more than 1,500 new policy holders signing up to the Kwik Fit Insurance brand in just 24 hours.

The staggering volume of sales in new car insurance polices increases the company’s presence in the highly competitive car insurance market.

Delighted Kwik Fit Financial Services Group Managing Director, Brendan Devine, said: “Our products are proving extremely popular with customers and our staff must be congratulated for the hard work and enthusiasm shown in delivering this record breaking result.

“The commitment and relentless effort shown by our staff ensures that customers continue to receive the best possible products and service. It’s fantastic to set a new one day sales record and it sets a very high benchmark for our next record attempt.”

As well as car insurance, Kwik Fit Insurance provides home insurance and an extensive range of business insurance products aimed at small to medium sized enterprises, breakdown cover, motorcycle and van insurance, as well as travel and pet insurance.
