Payment Protection

If you had an accident, fell ill, or became unemployed it could make it difficult to keep up your insurance payments. But there's no need to worry about that. If you're paying for your Kwik-Fit Insurance in monthly instalments, you could take out the Kwik-Fit Payment Protection Plan. That way, if the worst happens they'll be paid for you. Payment protection plan is only available if you are paying for your policy by monthly instalments.


Accident, Sickness & Unemployment Policy Summary

Name of the insurers

The insurers of this policy are Norwich Union Insurance Limited.


Type of insurance and cover

The Kwik-Fit Insurance Accident, Sickness & Unemployment policy pays your Kwik-Fit Insurance repayments if you are unable to work because of sickness or an accident and or you are made unemployed.


Significant features and benefits

  • If you are unable to work for more than 30 days in a row (the waiting period), we will pay one monthly benefit equal to your monthly Kwik-Fit Insurance repayment.
  • We will then pay one thirtieth of the monthly benefit for every further day you are off work for up to a maximum of 12 months in total.
  • If you are in paid work for at least 16 hours per week, have been so for the last six months, and are aged over 18 and will be under 65 when your Kwik-Fit Insurance product expires, you are eligible for cover under the policy.
  • If you have to make a claim, you will receive details of our Back to Work Services which are free, confidential and independent.

Significant and unusual exclusions or limitations

Your policy excludes some situations. These generally involve anything you already know about or that is caused by illegal or deliberate acts on your part. Please refer to the sections “What is Not Covered” and ‘’General Exclusions’’of your policy document for full details but the most significant are outlined below.


Disability Benefit Section – see Disability Benefit section of policy for details

We will not cover an accident or sickness which results from:

  • Pre-existing medical conditions. This is any medical condition which you know about when cover starts or you’ve seen a doctor about in the 12 months before taking out the cover which persists or returns during the first 24 months of your policy.
  • Pregnancy or childbirth – unless there have been medical complications.
  • Back conditions - unless you supply radiological evidence of medical abnormality from a doctor or specialist.
  • Mental or nervous disorders including stress and related conditions - unless your condition is diagnosed by a specialist and needs a continued course of treatment.

We will not cover unemployment:

  • If you knew about it at the start of the policy or you are notified of it within the first 90 days of the policy.
  • If it results from you resigning, retiring, taking voluntary redundancy or being dismissed for misconduct.
  • If you have not been in full-time employment for an employer based in the UK for 6 months, or been self-employed in the UK for 6 months, immediately before your unemployment claim.
  • If you are self employed you will need to provide proof that you can’t find enough work to cover your reasonable business and living expenses.

You will need to register for a Job Seeker’s Agreement in order to be able to claim for unemployment.

We will not cover:

  • Injury while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Attempted suicide or deliberate injury
  • Taking part in any crime

Duration of Policy

The term of the policy is the same as the term of your Kwik-Fit Insurance product, and the premium is guaranteed for this period. The policy is designed to cover your monthly Kwik-Fit Insurance repayment so you do not need to review your level of cover.


Right of Cancellation

You have the right to cancel your policy during a period of 14 days after the later of the day of purchase of the contract or the day on which you receive your policy documentation. A full explanation of the conditions for cancelling cover can be found in the policy document.

Complaints

We hope that you will be very happy with the service we provide. However, if for any reason you are unhappy with this, we would like to hear from you. Please refer to your policy booklet for details of the complaints procedure.

We are a member of the Financial Ombudsman Service. If you have complained to us and we have been unable to resolve your complaint, you may then be entitled to refer it to this independent body.


Financial Services Compensation Scheme

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (“FSCS”). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.
