Not so neighbourly Britain

Not so neighbourly Briton

It seems the days of looking after our neighbours’ pets and picking up their post when they’re on holiday is now a thing of the past, according to a recent survey from Kwik Fit Insurance.

The survey revealed that a whopping four out of five people claim to not know their neighbours, with many facing regular problems of noise disturbance from next door.

The survey of over 2,000 householders, paints a picture of the erosion of community spirit on our streets. However, there were some encouraging signs that people would like things to change, with 81% of those questioned saying they’d like to be more active in their communities and would be keen to work closer with their fellow residents to improve their neighbourhoods.

Brendan Devine, Group Managing Director of Kwik Fit Financial Services, said: “The results of our survey have thrown up some interesting statistics regarding life in today’s British suburbs. We believe that closer communities can lead to safer communities and we hope more Brits will spend time making friends with their neighbours.”
