Honda Civic Hybrid - 'Practical and green'Honda's Civic Hybrid saloon is a cheap to run alterative for environmentally conscious drivers, a motoring expert has said.
The electric-petrol powered car benefits from an outstanding 61.4 mpg fuel economy figure and CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km, meaning it is in the £15 Vehicle Excise Duty band.
The fact it is in motor insurance group seven also helps to keep costs down, although a reviewer from Parker's describes its new price of £16,600 as "expensive".
Negatives do not end there, as What Car? magazine's assessor notes that it is "not as refined or as good to drive as the best in the class".
However, people buying a hybrid are unlikely to make purchasing decisions based on whether the car has high performance and instead are more likely to be attracted by a combination of its green credentials and practicality.
The Civic Hybrid scores well on both points and What Car? magazine's correspondent notes there is plenty of head and leg room for passengers, the boot is a good size and that the controls and seats make it a comfortable car for the driver.
