Mitsubish i – 'Small but spacious'

Mitsubishi's i is similar in looks to a smart car but is a four-seater as opposed to smart's two-seater version.

The car's seats could be more supportive and could be classed by some as too narrow, Parker's states.

Another irritation is that the immobiliser requires de-activating manually, but other than that, the reviewer claims that other equipment does not pose a problem.

Visibility is good thanks to plenty of glass, a raised driving position and high roof, while the model boasts plenty of room despite appearing small in size. Leg and shoulder room are acceptable with headroom is more than adequate.

The model does, however, let in rather a lot of road noise, especially on faster surfaces.

All i versions come with standard equipment comprising remote central locking, CD player, alloy wheels, an adjustable driving seat, driver and front passenger airbags, power steering and child seat anchor points.

Well-suited to town driving, the car travels well between 30 and 40 mph, but struggles to reach 60 mph quickly. Smooth gearchanges and reasonably responsive steering are among its best features.

The vehicle has not yet been tested for safety by Euro NCAP but is available from £9,084 in car insurance group four.
