'Millions of Brits to renew home insurance in September'

More than two million Britons will renew their home insurance policies this month, research has shown.

According to findings by Abbey, some 2.3 million householders will renew the home insurance policy covering their property's contents; while1.8 million will renew their buildings insurance.

On average, consumers will spend £177 on covering their home contents and about the same amount making sure their buildings are covered by home insurance.

Remortgaging a property is set to be the most time-consuming activity, with Britons spending 6.5 million hours looking for a new mortgage deal, while searching for car cover will take up a collective 4.7 million hours of consumers' time.

A recent survey by customer experience monitor Global Reviews has highlighted that two-thirds of people used the internet to seek out a home insurance quote last year, with 81 per cent believing they will go online for their policy this year.

Home insurance customers are covered for accidental damage to their TV, home computer and stereo with a policy with Kwik-Fit Insurance.
