Satnav 'to help protect motor insurance premiums'

Drivers who break the speed limit can change their ways and keep their motor insurance premiums intact as a new satellite navigation system has been released with the guarantee that its owner will not receive a speeding ticket from any UK speed camera.

The Rossini Navigator system is capable of sensing more than 24,000 speed cameras over 270,000 miles of road throughout the UK, Easier reports.

When approaching a speed camera, the driver is warned to watch their speed. There is also an option to use the speed checker all the time when driving, which may help drivers control their pace and protect their motor insurance premiums.

The device's UK supplier, Car Part Direct, has pledged to pay any motorist £60 if they are issued with a speeding fine when they have not been warned about an approaching camera.

Mark Cornwall, of Car Part Direct, said: "What was needed was a first class satnav package with postcode search, turn-by-turn, door-to-door journey instructions and first class speed camera spotter – because we offer a guaranteed £60 cashback the Rossini had to be 100 per cent reliable."

According to AA Insurance, receiving a speeding ticket can increase motor insurance premiums by 17 per cent.

Earlier research by Tesco Personal Finance found that more than two-fifths of drivers do not think that speed cameras are effective in making the roads safer.

Car insurance customers can receive up to 15 per cent off online with Kwik-Fit Insurance.
