Van driving motor insurance customers 'not stereotypical'Van drivers have been shown in a different light thanks to recent findings by car insurance firm Budget.
The motor insurance provider found that the majority of men who drive vans are conscious of their weight and looks and enjoy spending free time relaxing with family.
Some 73 per cent of drivers surveyed said that they concerned about how they looked while working, while 60 per said admitted to being diet-conscious and preparing their own lunches for work rather than snacking on fast food.
Of those questioned, 64 per cent said they liked to spend time relaxing in their vans after work, with 22 per cent taking their vehicle on holiday or camping and 20 per cent using it for family trips.
Lisa Corston, spokesperson for the motor insurance firm, said: "It's time for us to ditch the more negative side of the van man's reputation once and for all.
"Our research puts forward an alternative to the road menace and shows that there's more to van man than meets the eye."
Earlier this year, car insurance provider Cornhill suggested that drivers of white vans could actually benefit from good cover rates due to their good road performance.
Kwik-Fit Insurance was named the cheapest online car insurance provider of 2006 by independent research.
