Female racer wants to prove herself as a talented driver

UK racing driver Katherine Legge seems determined to prove herself as a talented driver in the Champ Car World Series.

Ms Legge is the first woman driver to compete full-time in the Champ Car World Series after last year gaining recognition as the first woman ever to win an Open Wheel race in the US.

According to the Australian, Ms Legge only wants recognition for her results, rather than her minority status as a woman in the motor racing industry. She said, "I never really think about the gender thing"

"I've been accepted as a driver but I'm still a rookie and I have to earn their respect."

Ms Legge, now 25, started motor car racing in 1990 as a hobby, but is now a professional racing driver.

Whilst women drivers may be relatively few on the race track, women looking for cheaper car insurance can often find they get better deals than men, as they are proven to be safer and more cautious drivers.
