Leeds 'named as best town for women drivers'

Leeds has been named as the UK's most female friendly town by new research from the Future Laboratory and Vauxhall.

The extensive nightlife scene – replete with 361 bars and pubs and over 30 nightclubs – was highlighted as one reason for Leeds' popularity with the fairer sex.

It also came top in the survey for value for money, which is something women drivers all over the UK can find in the form of cheap motor insurance for women.

Meanwhile, Poole and Cambridge were found to have the lowest number of vehicle thefts and break-ins, as well as an abundance of cheap and safe parking areas, helping to keep car insurance premiums to a minimum.

The cheapest car insurance for women was found to be in Southampton, while women's motor insurance claims were least frequent in London Docklands.

Simon Ewart, communications manager for the Vauxhall Tigra, remarked: "This research has opened up a new way of looking at British cities, female culture and trends."

Many motor insurers provide cheaper car insurance for women due to their tendency to be involved in fewer accidents than their male counterparts.
