Women drivers go for smartsMany women's car insurance customers may be planning to get their hands on the new smart fortwo model when it is released in just a few days' time.
According to a spokesman for the firm, buyers of the smart car are typically females of all ages.
Ian Dutfield, marketing director for the Mercedes Car Group in the UK said that the new models would be sold across the UK via 160 retail sites, but would also be appealing to younger consumers through the internet.
"Predominately, the majority of smart fortwo users are women but men are the principal buyers of the higher performance Brabus version," he stated.
The auto expert added that ownership costs - potentially including women's car insurance fees - would be cheaper with the new options.
Mercedes Car Group, which includes smart, recently reported global sales of 96,200 vehicles during August 2007, marking a rise of 8.7 per cent year on year.
Eight out of ten women drivers could save on their women's car insurance with Kwik-Fit Insurance according to independent research conducted in June 2007.
