Lanarkshire Employees Take Their Cue to Raise £300 for Cancer Charity
30 employees from Kwik-Fit Insurance potted over £300 for Glasgow cancer charity Tak Tent in a pool tournament which took place last night (Thursday 15 November).
The Lanarkshire employees from the Uddingston-based insurance intermediary gathered at Reilly’s in Bellshill to join the tournament, with £100 as a top prize for the winner and £50 for the runner up. The charitable team were also treated to beer and a buffet as a thanks for their support.
Despite tough competition, James Malcolm from Motherwell balled the first prize trophy. He was closely followed by Robert Biggar (from Strathaven) who walked away with second place. James Malcolm said: “I can’t believe I won the top prize – £100 will come in very handy especially just before our annual Christmas night out. I can use the money to pay for my hotel room at the Crowne Plaza. There were some really good players throughout the game so I didn’t expect to rank at all – but delighted I did!”
“Nights like this are a great opportunity for all different departments to come together and raise funds in a social setting – its gives us all a chance to meet new faces from around the business and getting to know everyone away from the office setting.”
Charlotte Hanna, Internal Communications and Events at Kwik-Fit Insurance was thrilled with the success of the evening and with the support from so many around the business. She said: “The pool tournament was great fun – all who took part had a great night and it was brilliant to be able to add a further £300 to our £30k pledge which Kwik-Fit Insurance is due to hand over to Tak Tent next month.”
