Road safety is of prime importance, not only in the business in which we operate, but also for our employees, their families and our community. We are keen to support the promotion of road safety messages, and every year we engage in many different activities and promotions to highlight this.
We work closely each year with the road safety charity, Brake who campaign nationally to cut road deaths, raise awareness of the dangers on the UK’s roads, lobby Government for tougher action on prevention and education of different communities on how to stay safe. Brake also provide support to grieving families of road victims, offering counselling services and therapy. Each year, Brake organise National Road Safety week, and we are proud to support this each year both financially and by hosting a series of awareness sessions and events to all our employees as well as our community:
Every year we search for Britain’s top School Crossing Patroller with the Lollipop Person of the Year awards. Kids at every UK Primary School are invited to send in pictures, stories, videos and drawings telling us why they think their Lollipop Person should be crowned the UK’s best. The competition allows the children to engage in creativity and team work as they prepare stories, poems, videos and drawings, telling us why their lollipop person is the best. Our interactive lollipop website features downloads, activities and a viral lollipop crossing game as well as photos, videos and features. The competition aims to raise awareness amongst school children about the importance of their lollipop person, the work that he/she does and push across the road safety message when walking to and from school every day.
